Bayern Munich enter the new Bundesliga season the way champions rarely do in Germany: without a single headline-grabbing signing to their name. Vincent Kompany's side kept last season's title-winning core almost entirely intact, adding only where genuine depth was thin, while three of their closest challengers spent the summer in various states of upheaval. Bayer Leverkusen changed manager twice in the space of a season before settling on Carles Martinez Novell, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund both went shopping to close the gap, and three newly promoted clubs — Schalke 04, SV Elversberg and SC Paderborn — arrive with wildly different resources and expectations. Odds from 22Bet, Melbet, 1xBet, Mostbet and 1Win cover four markets this season, and the story underneath the numbers is less about Bayern's dominance than about who, if anyone, is actually positioned to end it.

Bayern Munich: Strength Through Continuity, Not Spending

Bayern's odds of 1.12-1.159 are among the shortest of any favourite across Europe's major leagues this season, and unusually for a club of their stature, that price is built on restraint rather than a spending spree. Sporting director Max Eberl — who made his name developing young talent at Borussia Monchengladbach before a spell at RB Leipzig — closed only two significant deals this summer, bringing in Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt in a combined package worth around €105 million, while also handing further first-team opportunities to academy product Lennart Karl. With Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Jamal Musiala all already in place from previous windows, Kompany's approach has been to trust continuity over turnover, betting that a settled squad beats a reshaped one over 34 matchdays.

Dortmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen: Three Different Paths to Close the Gap

Borussia Dortmund, priced at 11.0-11.5, made the most changes of any top-four club this summer, bringing in six new faces including Konstantinos Karetsas, Joey Veerman and Giannis Konstantelias in what amounts to a genuine squad rejig rather than incremental reinforcement. RB Leipzig, at 15.0-20.0, sit just ahead of Leverkusen in most books despite a quieter transfer window, reflecting the market's confidence in a club that has consistently produced Champions League football even in seasons without marquee signings. Bayer Leverkusen's odds of 17.0-24.0 tell the most turbulent story of the three: the club's previous title-winning manager was long gone, Erik ten Hag lasted only three matches into the following campaign, and his replacement Kasper Hjulmand oversaw a season that ended without Champions League qualification. New manager Carles Martinez Novell arrives after an impressive three-year spell with Toulouse in Ligue 1, and his tactical profile has been compared to Xabi Alonso — the last coach to deliver Leverkusen a genuine domestic double, in 2023/24 — which explains the cautious optimism behind their price despite losing Alejandro Grimaldo to Atletico Madrid, Piero Hincapie to Arsenal and Kerim Alajbegovic to Juventus in the same window.

Harry Kane's Continued Grip on the Golden Boot

Harry Kane's price of 1.41 makes him the shortest-priced top-scorer favourite of any of Europe's major leagues covered in this series, a reflection of a scoring record that borders on the routine at this point: 38 goals in his debut Bundesliga season followed by 61 in his second, a total that stands among the most productive individual campaigns the league has ever seen. Kane's price barely moved despite Bayern's quiet transfer window, because unlike a title race that depends on collective form across the whole squad, an individual scoring race depends mostly on one player's service staying consistent — and Bayern's attacking supply lines, built around Olise, Diaz and Musiala, remain exactly as they were.

A Genuinely Open Chase for Second Place

Serhou Guirassy and Deniz Undav share the next-best price at 9.0, giving Dortmund and Stuttgart each a direct stake in this market, while Bayer Leverkusen's Patrik Schick follows closely at 10.0 despite his club's turbulent summer off the pitch. The presence of Elversberg's Fisnik Asllani at 41.0 is a notable storyline in its own right: Asllani was the club's top scorer during their promotion-winning campaign before departing following the play-off heartbreak of the previous season, and his odds here reflect a newly promoted side hoping his goals can now translate to the Bundesliga's far tougher defensive standards.

Paderborn 07	100	100	100	150	151

Bayern's price of 1.002 for a top-four finish is about as close to a certainty as a betting market ever prices anything, which says as much about the size of the gap in German football's resources as it does about this specific squad. What is more revealing is the tight grouping directly behind them: Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Leverkusen are separated by only a quarter of a point across the board, suggesting that while nobody expects any of the three to seriously threaten Bayern for the title, the market sees all three as close to equally likely to lock up the Champions League places alongside them.

Stuttgart's Case as the Best of the Rest

VfB Stuttgart, priced at 3.5-3.55, sit alone in the next tier, a clear gap ahead of Hoffenheim at 5.0 and the rest of the mid-table pack. That standalone positioning reflects Stuttgart's status as the closest thing German football currently has to a genuine fifth force — a club with recent European experience and enough squad depth to be treated as a real outside candidate for the top four, rather than a lottery ticket like most of the clubs priced in double figures below them.

Elversberg and Paderborn: A Steep First Season

The Bundesliga's relegation format sends only the bottom two down automatically, with 16th place facing a play-off, which makes this market's shape slightly different from leagues that relegate three. Elversberg, at 1.8-2.05, carry the shortest odds as the smallest club in Bundesliga history — representing a municipality of barely 13,000 people — and a side that stuck to its usual transfer strategy of young loanees and free transfers rather than making a statement in the market, bringing in Francis Onyeka on loan from Leverkusen and Noah Darvich from Stuttgart. Paderborn, close behind at 2.1-2.4, return to the top flight after six years away having won a relegation play-off against Wolfsburg, and their odds reflect the gap that typically exists even between a promoted club and one that only just failed to secure automatic promotion in the past.

Schalke Carry Pedigree, Not Certainty

Schalke 04's price of 3.5-4.0 is notably longer than Elversberg's and Paderborn's, a gap the market attributes to Schalke's status as a genuine traditional force returning after only a three-year absence, backed by a fan base and infrastructure well beyond most promoted clubs' resources. Recent Bundesliga history offers Schalke some reassurance too: in the last seven seasons, only five of fifteen promoted clubs have gone straight back down, meaning the odds against an immediate second promoted-then-relegated cycle are better than the shortest prices in this table might suggest at first glance.

Summer Transfer Window: The Moves Behind the Numbers

The Bundesliga's transfer window runs until 1 September, and this year's business has been defined less by any single blockbuster than by a striking contrast in approach between the champions and everyone chasing them.

Bayern's targeted, restrained rebuild. Bayern's business under sporting director Max Eberl was deliberately narrow: Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven and Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt arrived in a combined deal worth roughly €105 million, while Maurice Krattenmacher joined to add further squad depth. Eberl, who built his reputation developing academy talent at Borussia Monchengladbach before a spell at RB Leipzig, has also pushed to give more first-team minutes to 19-year-old Lennart Karl rather than filling every gap through the market — a philosophy that keeps Bayern's core exactly as it finished last season's title-winning campaign. Live pricing on Bayern's title defence throughout the season is available at 1xBet.

Bayer Leverkusen's rebuild after a turbulent year. Few clubs in Europe had a more chaotic 12 months than Leverkusen, cycling through Erik ten Hag — sacked after just three matches — and then Kasper Hjulmand, whose spell ended without Champions League qualification. New manager Carles Martinez Novell arrives from Toulouse with a style drawing comparisons to Xabi Alonso's title-winning Leverkusen side of 2023/24, but he inherits a squad that lost Alejandro Grimaldo to Atletico Madrid, Piero Hincapie to Arsenal on a permanent deal, and highly-rated youngster Kerim Alajbegovic to Juventus in the same window. Updated Bundesliga markets reflecting Leverkusen's rebuild are available at Melbet.

Dortmund's wholesale squad rejig. Borussia Dortmund made the most extensive changes of any top-half club, bringing in six new first-team players this summer, including Konstantinos Karetsas, Joey Veerman and Giannis Konstantelias, alongside further reinforcements Joane Gadou, Justin Lerma and Kaua Prates. That volume of incoming talent, spread across multiple positions rather than concentrated in one area, suggests a club aiming to compete with Bayern on squad depth rather than through a single marquee addition. Odds tracking Dortmund's progress toward a top-four finish are available at Mostbet.

Elversberg and Paderborn stick to contrasting promotion strategies. Elversberg's approach to their historic first Bundesliga campaign has been notably conservative in the transfer market, prioritising loan deals and free transfers such as Francis Onyeka from Leverkusen and Noah Darvich from Stuttgart over marquee incoming fees, while accepting the departure of prior top scorer Fisnik Asllani. Paderborn, by contrast, secured US international Cole Campbell from Dortmund as their headline incoming signing, a rare case of a newly promoted club landing a player directly from one of the league's traditional heavyweights. Current relegation-market pricing for both promoted sides can be checked at 22Bet, with 1Win also carrying live odds across all four markets covered in this preview.
